INCPAS and NABA Launch Initiative to Strengthen Talent Pipeline in Indiana

The aim of ConnectIN is to boost talent pipelines, workforce development, and entrepreneurship in accounting and other fields.

The Indiana Society of CPAs (INCPAS) and NABA Inc. (formerly the National Association of Black Accountants) announced on Nov. 20 the launch of ConnectIN, an initiative designed to boost talent pipelines, workforce development, and entrepreneurship in fields such as accounting, finance, business, AI, and emerging technologies.

ConnectIN aims to address talent shortages by “creating bold, practical solutions to build a more robust and inclusive workforce while fostering innovation and economic growth,” INCPAS and NABA say in a media release.

“This new initiative is an important step toward expanding employment opportunities for Hoosiers by establishing a comprehensive talent pipeline from high school to college, professional certifications, and beyond,” the two groups say. “In response to persistent talent shortages, ConnectIN seeks to build a stronger workforce that reflects the needs of modern businesses while creating large-scale community impact. The program will focus on several key objectives, including boosting high school and college graduation rates, supporting professional certifications, and fostering leadership in Indiana’s business community.”

There are four main goals of ConnectIN:

1. Boost high school graduation and college-going rates: ConnectIN will implement programs to help high school students graduate and pursue higher education, including guidance on financial aid, dual-enrollment options, and career pathways in accounting.

2. Increase Hoosiers’ bachelor’s degree attainment: The partnership will support two-year and four-year college students, creating bridges to professional education and encouraging accelerated pathways to degree completion.

3. Expand access to professional credentials: ConnectIN will provide resources and mentorship to help professionals earn certifications such as CPA, CFA, and others, enabling them to advance in their careers and contribute to the growth of key industries.

4. Promote economic growth and leadership: By fostering entrepreneurship and opportunities for increased leadership representation, ConnectIN aims to drive economic resilience in Indiana, positioning Hoosiers as key contributors to the state’s economy, the two groups say.

“This is a pivotal moment for the profession here in Indiana,” INCPAS President and CEO Courtney Kincaid said in a statement. “For too long, we have struggled to attract talent, which has led to critical pipeline challenges. The ConnectIN program will help amplify solutions with proven track records, fill gaps, and explore new ways to establish pathways to a CPA. A skilled workforce drives innovation, improves decision-making, and contributes to a stronger economy. Everyone wins.”

To support the long-term success of ConnectIN, INCPAS and NABA have launched a jointly funded operating endowment that will ensure sustained financial backing for this work. Additionally, NABA will establish an Indiana office in Indianapolis, advancing the mission of ConnectIN locally and supporting the Indiana-based initiatives.

“ConnectIN represents the kind of bold, collaborative approach needed to address immediate workforce needs while driving long-term innovation and excellence,” said Guylaine Saint Juste, president and CEO of NABA. “At NABA, we are deeply committed to building pathways for professionals to thrive. This initiative lays the foundation for a stronger in Indiana. Together with INCPAS, we’re investing in a future of innovation and excellence.”
